6 Sep 2016
Please pass on my personal thanks and congratulations to all those involved in running the 2016 Hutt Water Polo Schools League.

From my viewpoint, the 2016 competition has gone very well.  I have not seen any hitches.  The games all seem to run to time.  There were always officials in the right places at the right times.  Very well done.

I watched a number of teams playing over the weeks, and I saw the standard of water polo greatly improve in many many teams. And they all seemed to be having fun!!

I am amazed at just how well you all do to get so many Primary, Intermediate, Junior and Senior Secondary teams together from across the Wellington Region in such an orderly manner week after week.

You all volunteer so much time week after week.  On behalf of all the children and their parents who benefitted from this opportunity, I say a very sincere thank you to you all.

15 Aug 2016 It's semi finals time at Naenae Comp
PLAY HARD, PLAY FAIR, HAVE FUN

All schools have now been issued with the Semi Finals Draw.

All semi finals and playoffs games will need a result. If the games are tied when the final whistle blows, the referee will take the ball out of the water, restart the game and then play golden goal - ie the first team to score wins.

For the teams playing off for 5th and 6th position, this will be your last games of the season.

Where teams have been tied on points we have used FINA rules to decide grade placings at the end of round robin. This rule does not go on overall goal difference so the placings may differ from those on the points table on the website.

Remember that only those players that have previously been registered to play in a team can take part in these games.

25 May 2016 Naenae Schools Comp begins today
The 2016 Water Polo School Leagues kick off today with over 70 teams taking to the water.

This popular winter competition has been successfully running at Naenae Pool for nearly three decades and provides students with a fun, fast and friendly winter sport that will happen indoors regardless of the wintery conditions outside.

Hutt Water Polo Club has a proud association with this school competition, the first of its kind ever delivered into New Zealand schools back in the eighties.

Water Polo is a fantastic TEAM sport where student learn life skills:
1. Learning how to perform under pressure.
2. Learning when to lead and when to follow.
3. Learning how to lose well.
4. Learning non-verbal communication.
5. Learning how to make personal sacrifices for good of the team.
6. Learning how to be reliable.
7. Learning how to encourage people.
