Inaugural U21 Championship in full swing The inaugural Under 21 National Championship swum off in Auckland today.
The championship has been introduced to the national calendar to encourage players to stay in the game after high school whilst also providing clear pathways into the NZWP National League.
The Hutt 21 Men’s team, coached by Chris Naylor and Sean Bryant, opened their campaign with a convincing win over Tauranga 19 –5.
The championship will be held over three days and the draw can be found on www.waterpolo.org.nz

U21 Mens News We are pleased to announce that Chris Naylor will be coaching the 2017 U21 Men’s squad and assisted by Sean Bryant
Thanks goes to the experienced Paula Watson who has offered to Manage the U21 Men’s team to tournament.
NZWP have realised that the All Blacks v Lion Test at Eden Park on 8 July will have an impact on U21 travelling teams and have elected to condense the U21 Championship to three days which is now starting early on 9 July and finishing late on 11 July. This will mean that teams may be involved with multiple games per day.
We are going to have get our planning completed earlier than normal by securing accommodation and flights.
We will therefore be having trials for the U21 Men’s team in the next month. U21 Trials will be open to any registered Hutt Club member.
Training will continue through the holidays as Naenae pool closes for annual maintenance on 30 April. There is no training on Easter Monday. While Naenae is closed, we do have a skeleton training schedule at Huia .. details to come out soon.
