Under-14 Girls Grab Bronze Medal at ChampsTop of Page
  15 Dec 2003, 10:47pmitem # 77

The Hutt Girls team grabbed the bronze medal at the recent National Under-14 Championships held in Christchurch.

Hutt were the title holders in this event from last year and this year's girls played well against a very competitive field with 15 teams entered from throughout the country.

With wins over Waitakere (10-2) and BOP Rotorua (7-4) and a loss to Harbour City (2-3), the Hutt girls went into the cross-overs finishing 2nd in their group.

On day 3 they lost their next two games against the two eventual finalists - Northsport A (1-6) and Marist Red (1-6). In the Bronze medal match our girls easily accounted for QE II A 5-2.

Well done girls :-
Jessica Fabish, Brooke Pye, Caitlyn Duffy, Jade Enoka, Lauren Millar, Hannah O?Shea, Michele Gunn, Georgia Logan, Aimee Ross, Roxanne Taggart, Becky Wainwright, Charlotte Wainwright.

Lauren Hudson coached the team, with Managers Angela Enoka, and Judith Millar. Glenn Benge accompanied the team as the club referee.
Under-14 Boys Win Plate SectionTop of Page
  15 Dec 2003, 10:02pmitem # 78

Our Hutt boys - a team filled with raw talent - finished a credible 9th by winning the Plate Section at the recent Under-14 National Championships.

With previous tournament wins over both Harbour City and Maranui (who both finished in the top 8), our boys were unlucky to finish 9th. Big improvements were demonstrated throughout the tournament with all the boys benefiting from the match-ups against tough opposition.

Guys, keep up the good work:
Tamati Morrison, Adam Pye, John Gatfield, Liam Gilmer, Jordan Wairau, Sam Pomare, Isaac Taggart, Tom McGuinness, Mike McJorrow, Stephen Macris, Sam Turner, Andrew Davidge, Travis Edwards

Coach: Scott James
Manager: Linda Pye
Asst Manager: Linda Morrison

  10 Dec 2003, 11:11pmitem # 79

Hutt's Scott James was selected as an assistant coach to travel with the two National Under-15 Boys teams who start a short tour of Queensland next week.

Scott has been a dedicated coach within the club over the last 4-5 years and has progressed his coaching through our junior teams. This recognition at the national level is well-deserved for his hard work.

He'll bring back valuable experience that'll be applied to his next team coaching assignments within the club.

Well done Scott !
