Fundraising has been an important part of the Club Committee's function.
Grants are applied for all teams for travel, accomodation etc. It is the luck of the draw as to what we receive, but it is never enough for everything.
We are always on the lookout for new fundraising ideas so please talk to one of the Committee if you can help. Even better, put your name forward for the Committee.
Pan Pacs will be held next year in Auckland. It is hoped we will be able to send a team in each grade which makes 8 teams with approx $7000 needed for each - you do the maths for the required funds!
We need your help to meet this challenge. If you would like to be involved please tell us now

|NZ Schoolboys - 4 of our Guys in Final 15|
| 24 Oct 2003, 5:33pm||item # 1|
On behalf of the Club and the committee, many congratulations to Ben, Paora, Chris and Eamon on their selection to the New Zealand Schoolboys squad (final 15) from which 13 will form the team to play in the Tri Series in Australia in December.
It must be a long time, if ever(??), since the club has had 4 players in the Schoolboys team, and it's a feat that they can all be very proud of, and testimony to all the hard work that they have put in over the last year and more.
Well done to them all - if they represent NZ as well as they have the Club then the Schoolboys team will have a solid and dependable core of players!!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
Keith James - President Hutt Water Polo Club

|Inaugural Hutt Nippers Cup - A Fantastic Success|
| 13 Oct 2003, 8:54am||item # 16|
The brain child of Lindy Naylor with help from the Committee and willing parents, Hutt hosted a very successful under-14 tournament between 19-21 Sep at Huia Pool.
With boys and girls teams from Harbour City, Maranui, Marist (Auckland) and of course Hutt, the emphasis was on participation, fun and to gain experience with fully setup pool surrounds with proper clocks and good refereeing.
The tournament was purposely held at the same time as the Under-16 National Champs in Invercargill - so while not being a B grade tournament as such, the Hutt Nippers Cup provided an excellent opportunity for full participation at this under-14 age group.
From every game there was a MVP selected for which a small trophy was awarded.
Results - Finals:
Boys - won by Marist 5 over Hutt Red 4
Girls - won by Harbour City 7 over Marist 6
Play off 3rd & 4th:
Boys - won by Maranui 7 over Harbour City 5
Girls - won by Hutt 5 over Maranui White 3
Lindy made the following statement afterwards:
"A big thank you to all those who participated in the recent Hutt U14 Nippers Cup. Huia buzzed all weekend with excitment - it was fantastic to see. And a special thanks to the Marist Club for bringing two teams"
Harbour City also host an Under-14 tournament due in mid-October - "Smokecds.com U14 Water Polo Challenge" - thus providing a good series of games for Wellington teams leading into the Under-14 National Championships in early December.
|Hutt Boys Stepped up Against Harbour CIty at U18 Nationals|
| 10 Oct 2003, 12:13am||item # 84|
The Hutt under-18 boys came away a little disapointed with 7th place from their recent National Championships, held in Rotorua, but there were some great positives to be taken ...
The way the team stepped up to play Harbour City was just amazing and then only losing by one goal 10 - 9, in one of the great games of the tournament.
Four of the players were selected from our Club Under 16 team and they all performed. Also of special mention:
Bradley Hudson ? simply had a gutsy, awesome tournament
Paora Morrison ? played some of the best water polo he has played in a much disciplined manner.
Ben Pye - worked hard throughout the tournament
Evarn Flaunty ? is coming of age every tournament he participates in.
Chris Naylor ? saw plenty of ball the whole tournament, saved many 4 metre penalties, and played in the field when required.
Josh Campbell ? has made a huge improvement over the past year
Hutt 11 Bay of Plenty A 1
Hutt 9 Northsport B 5
Harbour City 10 Hutt 9
Hutt 8 Western Bays 1
Northsport A 15 Hutt 2

Final position: 7th
