Two Teams competed in the recently held Under 16 Nationals in Rotorua from September 18th-21st. Congratulations to the girls who showed good fighting spirit to earn a bronze medal. The boys had an enjoyable tournament benefiting from the exposure to a higher level of waterpolo. Great improvements in performances during the lead up to and at the tournament bodes well for future years. The boys finished 8th.
Both teams in preparation for the tournament ventured up to Linton Army base on Sunday 22nd August to play the Linton Under 18 teams. The results were pleasing and a good time had by all. Both teams also played a local Wellington competition.

|Hutt Take Two of the Three Placings in Linton|

Hutt achieved fantastic results at the Linton 5 a-side tournament over the weekend of 14/15 August. The two teams, "Hutt 1" and "Hutt 2", were dominant through the round robin along with the eventual winning team from Waitakere. The final, between Waitakere and Hutt 2, was a close-fought affair. The score was all even 4-4 at end of normal time. Two extra periods saw Waitakere come out the eventual winners 8-4. Hutt 1 was placed third.
Amy McGuinness picked up the "Social Player" of the Tournament, with Kathryn Mooney and Chris Pennell receiving prizes as well. The Hutt 1 team won the games evening events on the Saturday night.
Hutt 2 was: Mark Willis, Barry McGuinness, Megan Thomson, Jodi Morrison, Kathryn Mooney, Scott James and Matt Luttrel.
Hutt 1 was: Chris Pennell, Glenn Benge, Monica Jones, Amy McGuinness, Steve Paul, Ryan Medlin and Josh Keenan.
The other teams to compete were: Waitakere, Linton Stones, Linton Sharks, Glenfield Socialites and Glenfield Rockies. The Airforce did enter a team originally but pulled out before the tournament started.
|Under 16 and Under 18 Championships Coming Up|

Hutt have entered boys and girls teams in both the upcoming under 16 and under 18 National Chamionships.
The Under 16's are being held in Rotorua 18-22 Sep. The Under 18's in Palmerston North (Linton) 29 Sep - 2 Oct.

On 21st and 22nd August, the boys and girls under-16 teams will be in Palmerston North competing in a series of games against the local under-18 teams.
Coached by Chris Pennell and Megan Thomson, they're expecting tough competition from the older, but perhaps less-skilled Palmerston North teams.
|Megan Thomson Appointed as Sports Planner / Entrepreneur|

Megan Thomson, well known and popular member of the Hutt Club, has been appointed as a Sports Planner / Entrepreneur for the New Zealand Water Polo Association.
Megan demonstrated she had the right stuff for the job - the ability to organise recreation programs and understand the economics of swimming pools and the attitudes of council owners and operators of them.
|Hutt Host Under-16 Competition|

Organised by the immensely experienced Shirley Barret, Hutt will host a Wellington Clubs under-16 tournament at Nae Nae pool on 29th August.
The tournament will give valuable playing experience to the Hutt, Harbour City and Maranui teams before they head off to the National under-16 championships in Rotorua, 18-22 September.

Glenn Benge has been assigned as referee to accompany the New Zealand Junior Mens team to the World Junior Mens Championships, in Kuwait City, Kuwait.
The Championships will be running between 9th and 18th October 1999.

|Liz Burman Assigned to Italy|

Liz Burman has been chosen by FINA as a neutral referee to officiate at the World Junior Womens Championships in Messina, Italy.
Neutral referees are selected for all World Championships, from the best referees of those countries not also attending the tournament.
Liz, appointed from a strong list of contenders, is one of only two female FINA qualified referees in the world. The championships run from 31st July to 8th August 1999.
