On Friday 3rd December we say farewell to Fletcher Goldsworthy a long time Hutt Club member who is heading off overseas.
He's enjoying a long weekend in Perth before a two-week tour of India. Then he's off to join our out-of-town clubbies Bruce and Matt in London. His plans there include working and playing but knowing Brucie and Matt the play side will likely be at the top of the list.

Congratulations to ...
- Amy McGuinness, Rebecca McGuinness and Kathryn Mooney for being named in the New Zealand Schoolgirls team for 1999. They leave on December the 10th for a training camp in Auckland before flying to Sydney on the 12th December for a Test Series against the Australia Schoolgirls Team. We wish you and the NZ Schoolgirls team the best of luck and look forward to hearing the results....
- Keri James - for being named Most improved player at the recent NZ Junior Secondary Schools Tournament
- Kathryn Mooney - For being named Waterpolo Sportswoman of the year at the recent Evening Post Wellington College Sports Awards Dinner.
- The Sacred Heart Junior Waterpolo Team - who were placed 2nd at the NZ Junior Secondary Schools Tournament recently. Many of the players are Hutt Club Members. They were coached by our very own Krista James and Amy McGuinness.
- The HVHS Boys Waterpolo Team - for finishing 8th at the NZ Junior Secondary Schools Tournament. Many of these players were also Hutt Club members. They were coached by Josh Keenan.
|Liz and Glenn Abroad Again|

Glenn Benge is accompanying the New Zealand Stingrays team on most of their tour of Australia for the first few rounds of the Australian National League from the 4th-12th December. He will accompany the team to Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.
Liz Burman will take over from the 13th December, for the last two Stingray Games in Sydney and continue as referee for the NZ Schoolboys and Schoolgirls Tests against Australia between 18th and 20th December.

Glenn Benge was selected as a referee to accompany the NZ Junior (U20) Mens team to the World Junior Mens Championships in Kuwait between 8th and 18th October 1999. He was proud to represent NZ and the Hutt club.
Glenn brought back a few comments and photos. You can check them out on the NZ Water Polo web site(http://www.waterpolo.org.nz). On the home page, find the "Photo Galleries" and within that list you'll find "1999 Junior Mens Champs, Kuwait".
|1999 Under 16 Nationals|

Two Teams competed in the recently held Under 16 Nationals in Rotorua from September 18th-21st. Congratulations to the girls who showed good fighting spirit to earn a bronze medal. The boys had an enjoyable tournament benefiting from the exposure to a higher level of waterpolo. Great improvements in performances during the lead up to and at the tournament bodes well for future years. The boys finished 8th.
Both teams in preparation for the tournament ventured up to Linton Army base on Sunday 22nd August to play the Linton Under 18 teams. The results were pleasing and a good time had by all. Both teams also played a local Wellington competition.

|Hutt Take Two of the Three Placings in Linton|

Hutt achieved fantastic results at the Linton 5 a-side tournament over the weekend of 14/15 August. The two teams, "Hutt 1" and "Hutt 2", were dominant through the round robin along with the eventual winning team from Waitakere. The final, between Waitakere and Hutt 2, was a close-fought affair. The score was all even 4-4 at end of normal time. Two extra periods saw Waitakere come out the eventual winners 8-4. Hutt 1 was placed third.
Amy McGuinness picked up the "Social Player" of the Tournament, with Kathryn Mooney and Chris Pennell receiving prizes as well. The Hutt 1 team won the games evening events on the Saturday night.
Hutt 2 was: Mark Willis, Barry McGuinness, Megan Thomson, Jodi Morrison, Kathryn Mooney, Scott James and Matt Luttrel.
Hutt 1 was: Chris Pennell, Glenn Benge, Monica Jones, Amy McGuinness, Steve Paul, Ryan Medlin and Josh Keenan.
The other teams to compete were: Waitakere, Linton Stones, Linton Sharks, Glenfield Socialites and Glenfield Rockies. The Airforce did enter a team originally but pulled out before the tournament started.
|Under 16 and Under 18 Championships Coming Up|

Hutt have entered boys and girls teams in both the upcoming under 16 and under 18 National Chamionships.
The Under 16's are being held in Rotorua 18-22 Sep. The Under 18's in Palmerston North (Linton) 29 Sep - 2 Oct.

On 21st and 22nd August, the boys and girls under-16 teams will be in Palmerston North competing in a series of games against the local under-18 teams.
Coached by Chris Pennell and Megan Thomson, they're expecting tough competition from the older, but perhaps less-skilled Palmerston North teams.
|Megan Thomson Appointed as Sports Planner / Entrepreneur|

Megan Thomson, well known and popular member of the Hutt Club, has been appointed as a Sports Planner / Entrepreneur for the New Zealand Water Polo Association.
Megan demonstrated she had the right stuff for the job - the ability to organise recreation programs and understand the economics of swimming pools and the attitudes of council owners and operators of them.
|Hutt Host Under-16 Competition|

Organised by the immensely experienced Shirley Barret, Hutt will host a Wellington Clubs under-16 tournament at Nae Nae pool on 29th August.
The tournament will give valuable playing experience to the Hutt, Harbour City and Maranui teams before they head off to the National under-16 championships in Rotorua, 18-22 September.
